Dunleavy campaign should pay for his fundraising trip to Kenai
Gov. Mike Dunleavy held a fundraiser in Soldotna Monday, an event co-hosted by half of his cabinet.
The next day he held a cabinet meeting at the Aspen Hotel in Soldotna.
The trip to the Kenai Peninsula for every state employee involved should be paid for by the Dunleavy campaign, but the governor is portraying it as an official state activity, promoting what he did on a government website.
“Hey, I want to thank everyone on the Kenai, we’ve had a great trip down here, meeting with the mayors, business folks, as well as the university, and talking about their programs and listening to their input as to how we can solve issues here in Alaska,’ he said on a state-funded video.
“So once again, I want to thank everyone for their hospitality here on the Kenai. And this is America’s playground.”
He didn’t mention his fundraiser, which drew 60 people and was a “hip” event, according to the Republican Party mouthpiece.
