Dunleavy planned to announce something, then canceled without explanation
On Tuesday at about 8:40 p.m., Gov. Mike Dunleavy announced that he and Lt. Gov. Nancy Dahlstrom would be going on Facebook late that night with an announcement.
Numerous Dunleavy supporters, who wrote comments on Facebook, figured that Dunleavy would be announcing a decision by President-elect Trump to give Dunleavy a big job in Washington, D.C. It would mean Dunleavy would quit the governor’s job and Dahlstrom would replace him.
But if Dunleavy was counting on Trump allowing him to announce his hiring, Dunleavy got a little ahead of himself.
About an hour-and-a-half after promoting his announcement and joint appearance with Dahlstrom, Dunleavy canceled it without explanation.
Dunleavy’s communications director said he had no idea what Dunleavy planned to communicate or why he failed to communicate.
Dunleavy, who wants out of his current job, owes Alaskans an explanation.
Dunleavy has discussed the Interior Secretary’s position with people in Trump world, including Linda McMahon, who sat with Dunleavy in a private box during the Trump rally at Madison Square Garden, NOTUS reported, referring to three anonymous sources.
“Since Trump won the election, the transition team has courted Dunleavy and discussed the interior secretary position, the three sources said. One of the sources also noted that Trump and Dunleavy talk regularly,” NOTUS reported.
“As with most things in Trumpworld, nothing is final until it comes out of Trump’s mouth — and even then it can change.”
